I didn’t get into The Bronx until i heard their second album, The Bronx – II, which is bloody fantastic but with a less impressive cover. I always wanted to like them based on this cover, which reminds me of the horror movie posters of the late 70′s early 80′s. I’d even buy this on [...]
One of the most enduring covers of all time and proof in the power of photography and music. I was also interested to see the same designer for this Robbert Fisher also designed Odeley for Beck. As art director at Geffen he must have touched on many great albums in his time and sadly has [...]
It’s a little bit Monty Python meets high school art project meets one man band. Bill McMullen’s artwork fits perfectly with this eclectic album of funkly sounds and beats. When you flip the cover over you also get the flipped view of the musical machine. Even the bands name is flipped. It’s a nice subtle [...]
Above is a montage of just some of the hundreds of Bootleg covers out there. I saw these a few years ago everywhere at HMV and JB Hifi. They stood out among the sea of colorful covers. Each one was different and all looked hand stamped. The rough textured feel to them was a refreshing [...]
With the 3rd Unkle release “War Stories”, gone are the references to Futura 2000 and his point man characters that have up until now visually identified UNKLE. In it’s place is much darker imagery. I was surprised to find out that the cover artwork was by none other than Robert Del Naja (3D) of Massive [...]
This is one of those iconic covers that I have seen everywhere but never knew the band name or any of their songs. After checking the Wikipedia entry for DFA1979 I see that kept this elephant nosed motif throughout all their releases. While this makes sense in terms of having people instantly recognise the singles [...]
Where do you start with this album. The cover art itself is a pretty bland affair, it’s nice and creates feeling of unease but it’s what buying the CD lets you experience that really makes this release special. Firstly there is the heat sensitive CD or Thermo-chrome disc if you want to get all technical. [...]
I have never heard of The Decemberists but that’s the beauty of this cover. It made me do a double take and find out more about them. This would have to have a plastic wrap and sticker displaying the bands name or the 15 year old working at the local HMV wouldn’t know what to [...]
I love a cover that you can look at multiple times and always see something new. This new cover for Genji Siraisi by Razauno is simple is one cover that will catch your eye. I want this as a poster and a desktop wallpaper and if I wasn’t such a pussy a tattoo too. I [...]
Endtroducing… was one of the first records I ever purchased (I have somehow ended up with 3 copies of the LP since). In one way or another, this album exposed me to a new world of records, dj’ing and the diversity of hiphop music. It’s a timeless classic 10 years on.
