Here’s a quick post. Mostly due to the limited information out there on this release. But I thought the simplicity and humor was quite interesting. I can just imagine this being a smart ass response from the designer as to what the cover should be and someone though they were serious.
This reminds me of the Pantera album Vulgar Display of Power only the aftermath. It’s an album cover that says to the viewer “this album is going to musically leave you bleeding”. The cover achieved cut through by featuring such an iconic photo. In ads for music sales on TV where the album covers fly [...]
This must have raised more than a few brows in its time. I rescued it from my mum & dad’s garage a few years ago with a whole bunch of other vintage classics. I remember as a prepubescent adolescent my brother and I would fish this out of the vinyl compartment of our monstorous Hi-fi [...]
I had to do a second take when I saw this. It hits you after a few seconds how smart this cover is. 10 years of Big Dada records and paraphernalia were layed it out in a museum/gallery space to give it a tongue-in-cheek artifact like presence. The art direction is spot on and as [...]
This was submitted by a reader who was shocked we hadn’t already posted it. You could probably guess from the previous albums posted we probably not big “BS&T” fans, or even born when this came out, but that wont stop us from posting it.
I’ve loved this cover for the abundantly talented Brendan Benson’s 3rd album since i first saw it. Of course it ticks the retro box for me but it’s also so beautifully restrained and sophisticated. I was lucky enough to get in contact with the designer of the album artwork David Calderley at Graphic Therapy, who [...]
From the obscure Vancouver indie band Vonnegut Dollhouse, comes an impressively crafted packaging piece. The cover design stands on its own too and plays along nicely with the overall concept. Designed by Jeff Harrison of Rethink Communications in close collaboration with the band, the cd unfolds to reveal a dollhouse complete with detailed interiors (that [...]
I forgot how much i loved this cover, this album was a big favourite of mine around the time of it’s release but since then has been gathering dust in my semi-archived stack of CD’s. The cover was painted by Wayne White, an artist i knew nothing about, which is not surprising as i know [...]
I initially thought these were life size. It’s only after studying it closely do you realize the small statues are standing on a dinner tray. The duo always feature themselves on the covers and this is probably the most elaborate way they have done it to date.
I must be one of the only person that hasn’t heard of Will Sweeney. He must have been in the issues of Juxtapoz that I didn’t get because my subscription expired. This original illustration for the latest Architecture in Helsinki album “Places Like These” is a great example of his work.
