I have to say I laughed out loud at your critique of this cover! Very good! :-)

While I don’t necessarily agree with all you said, I can certainly see how one could interpret it the way you have. And what’s more, there’s more than a grain of truth in what you write.

Graham Nash – The Hollies
Stephen Stills – Buffalo Springfield
David Crosby – The Byrds

These three guys had already had megahit songs and albums to their names by this point and whether they had pissed away the money or not, they were still leading the RnR millionaire lifestyle by this point. And yes, they could afford coke, all they wanted in 1969.

(maybe they pissed away only half their money. The other half they spent on booze, drugs, fast cars and faster women!)

How irresponisble. You purport to retroactively villify these guys for acts they would commit years later than the moment that this image captures. Before this first record made them famous and earned them money, do you really think they could *afford* cocaine? Instead you pre-suppose that they are “but three millionaires in the midst of a cultural revolution.” Do your homework. At least you recognize that the music is outstanding.
