This ties it all together for me. This style is one of those lost fads and this reminds me who started it.

As a huge Malcolm Garrett fan, I found the 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition reissue artwork quite appalling--especially since this is THE album art that inspired me to choose graphic design as a career. Problems with the reissue art: the bottom of Nagel's image is slightly clipped, the "Assorted iMaGes" logo on the bottom right corner isn't cropped properly, and the "Collectors Edition" type is haphazardly placed without regard to the original artwork. Here is my own "remix" of the reissue artwork, a loving homage to the original artwork: http://www.themysteryparade.com/misc/rio20.jpg

Here's a list of audio interviews on MP3 with Mike Dempsey RDI, including a great one with Malcom Garrett.

I think this picture is rather creative. I think that the woman has her own sense of style and I appreciate that in people!
Great work

Nice article, thanks. Love Assorted Images. Perhaps you could show (Assorted’s) Keith Breeden’s work for The Cult album “Electric” and its associated singles.

Hey Realifepixel,

it was probably a painting rather than a digital artwork. This is the early 1980's we're talking here.

I look at his style and I think, "What steps did he take to achieve that effect in Photoshop? ... oh wait, it is probably a vector image ..." It's funny how are realities define our perceptions.

Having a Nagel/faux Nagel window decal is a requirement for being allowed to open a nail salon, isn't it?
