Michael Jackson: Dangerous

Michael Jackson: Dangerous

Regardless of what Michael has done to himself over the years there’s no doubt the dude can sing and dance. This cover for Dangerous is one of my favs and was also submitted by Elias of A+.

Designed and painted by Mark Ryden, again of Juxtapoz fame. It’s one that would have looked glorious as a 12 inch sleeve. You can look at this for hours and not see everything reviled only by Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club as one of the most intricate covers.

They released a special edition (before the word collectors had become popular) that folded out to become a diorama.

Michael Jackson: Dangerous Collectors Edition

The closed cover was a masked version of the cover (see below)

Michael Jackson: Dangerous Special Edition

This was well before Michael’s obsession with masks.

  1. the amount of detail and reference to the lyrics contained within and the mythology around Jackson is so intricate in this cover it could take many hours to decode and get it al. One of the better album covers of the 90s in terms of artwork.

  2. […] actually had this one waaaay back in the day. I’m not ashamed. That shit was fire. […]

  3. Yea, that Michael Jackson was dangerous…

I actually have a copy of the special edition CD cover - really cool, intricate design.

  4. I really love this album cover. I strive to create something this epic!
    I love it!

  5. sera q s siorama esta en algun museo (para robarlo)jajajajajajaj s broma

  6. This was a fantastic piece of art. Ryden has gone on to become even more famous… and has grown a strange obsession with Christina Ricci and raw meat (?)… but this one always stands out.

  7. this album art work is very creative.
the ammount of detail that went into its design is incredible. It shows what i think michael loves, and shows items in his life.
    good work on the art1!!

  8. NO Matter whats is happening in his personal life, He and all that related to him are all unique and creative.

  9. It’s a great cover indeed. I didn’t know it was Ryden’s work. By the way, it’s heavily influnced by Bosch’s paintings. Or maybe the right word would be “a rip-off” of Bosch’s paintings.

  10. I had this as a 12″ as a kid, and spent hours poring over all the details. Love it.

He had the eyes as a logo for a while. Places where you would’ve expected to see a label reading “MICHAEL JACKSON” just had the eyes.

And no, it’s not very similar to Bosch’s work at all, Luca. Other people have done big pieces with lots of details too.

  11. I love this picture.

  12. Beautiful cd-art, my favorite. See this, it´s amazing: http://www.lacortedelreydelpop.com/artedetapa4.htm

  13. This is propagana brainwashing. Look at you all lap it up!

Michael Jackson is hailed today as the King of Pop. On the cover of the recent “Dangerous” Album, the freemasonic symbol of the one eye can be found as well as a picture of a bald headed man well known to the Occult (Satanists) as Alistair Crowley. Alistair Crowley himself was a freemason who became a Satanist and wrote the book “The New Law of Man”, which stated in it that it would one day replace the Quran as the law of man.

Beware the new world order! Actually pay attnetion to what you are reading, watching and listening to.

  14. I thought it was great, but then again all of his album are!!! I hope that you michael will get out of this mess. and to all the fans out there in the world, WE GOT TO HELP HIM IN ANYWAY WE CAN!!!

  15. to david:
how come you think that’s Alistair Crowley on the cover…?

  16. This CD was actually issued on vinyl. It is indeed wonderful to look at when the media is larger than a CD booklet.

  17. es lo mejor michAel jackson
