The Dandy Warhols: Welcome to the Monkey House

This album combines two different Andy Warhol (The Factory) designed covers for two different music artists, The Rolling Stone’s Sticky Fingers and The Velvet Undergrounds self titled album. Both classic covers in their own right. So for a band with the name like Dandy Warhols it just seems fitting.
This cover was painted by Ron English. Those who don’t read Juztapoz would know his work from the Supersize Me poster of a Fat Ronald McDonald seen below.

Rob:
The cover is neat. Shame the album is complete dross, compared to the Dandys’ earlier stuff. Sometimes one can be so self-consciously quirky as to vanish entirely up one’s own fundament.

Of course! This is the most iconic Dandy cover and it had never occurred to me that but of course it refers to a Warhol piece. (Or rather, it didn’t click that Warhol did the Velvet Underground cover…)
Combining it with one of the most unnecessarily controversial album covers ever, Sticky Fingers, is a BIG call for the quality of your own album.
Very pastiche!
In retrospect it’s all so damn obvious now.
