Look at the track list for T-Rex Hives. if you take some of the first letter of each track and put them together, you get a secret message:

1. A
2. T
3. Wa
4. ?
5. A
6. B
7. See (C)
8. D
9. Mi
10. Lo
11. De
12. An

1-3 could be referencing Charles Manson's philosophy of ATWA (Air, Trees, Water, Animals)

Then track four might have deliberately been left out of the hidden message (as evidenced by the title "No Pun Intended") just to throw us off.

Then it goes A, B, See, D, Mi-Lo-De-An. I assumed to be reference to the mixolydian mode/scale in musical theory, but upon googling for "milodean hives" to see if it had been discussed, it turns out a Melodian was a "monophonic synthesizer released in 1972" and also a sort of keyboard that you blow air into as you press certain keys. 1972 is about the same time Manson came up with ATWA. Weird, eh?

Haha thats exactly what came into my head when I saw this. I got this strange feeling wash over me and then realised it reminded me of A Clockwork Orange.

Although I quite like this cover I dont think it actually looks like them very much.

The Hives are such crazy performers (completely blew me away Rock Werchter 2008) that they deserve equaly crazy artwork.

What are..? I mean.. buh..

The moment I saw that cover originally the first thing I thought was "Wow, The Hives are really letting their cover design go".

Then I looked more closely. And thought "Yep, this is definitely their first genuinely bad cover. What a shame, they used to have such visual panache."

The earlier covers are all so dynamic and stripped-down, and this new one's bland, beige, and overstuffed. Not to mention that most of the band are almost unrecognizable, as if they'd all had a faceful of bee stings.

that was my thought too, ollie.

can't wait to hear the next one - supposedly they plan on calling it 'the world's first perfect album'. with a name like that, it -has- to be good!

Yes I noticed this with the legs too. I think it might be a referance to the fictional/real songwriter "Randy Fitzsimmons" who suposeadly writes all the hives songs but has never been seen?

A friend pointed out a very interesting (and certainly intentional) discontinuity between the front and back covers for this release. Is that...are there...six pairs of legs?
